This one is going to be fun! We are combining an early season macroinvertebrate sampling from the creek, when the bugs should be plentiful, along with a demonstration on how to preserve them in individual glass tubes. Some of the attendees may even leave with a presevered sample!
Britton Reed of Spookintrout has been collecting and preserving macroinvertebrates for years and will share his knowledge and the do's and dont's of preservation. Preserved specimens can be used for education and reference for tying flies which Britton uses for his meticulously tied flies.
This will be our first time at the creek since installation of the streamgage so we'll offer a quick overview of what it is, what it records, and the benefit we hope it provides.
Bring a chair, family, a friend to this great event Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. at the old Laughman’s Sawmill pavillion. All are welcomed!
